Weigh In

Recently United Airlines started new travel guidelines. This affects passengers who can't fit in a regular seat, can't buckle the seat belt and can't bring the arm rest all the way down.  If this is you, you'll need to purchase another ticket. This has brought an interesting conversation to the table.

Some of the ideas are helpful, and I hope the airline owners listen to the flying public. We all "rent" the same space when we fly. Can I get a refund for part of my seat if you overflow into mine? I don't think so. If you interfere with someone else's safety, I believe the airline should address it.

I hope that if they enforce this, they will also consider parents having to pay for an extra seat for their child,. If the kids need to be buckled into a car, they should be buckled in an airliner. Kids know how to act when they are in the carseat, sitting on mom' lap is not the same....and they show it.

When I ship a package, I pay for the size and weight. The weight of the plane determines the fuel. With the new guidelines, our tickets must match our ID, we may be asked to estimate our weight..........

I'd like to see the airlines take out a few rows of seats, and replace them with larger seats to accomodate the plus size passengers. I hope they consider this instead of charging for 2 seats. You might pay a bit more, but keep the cost below the price of 2 seats!!!
